Dialogue between Media and Trade Personnel at Rangpur

Setting-up Coal-based Power Plant Demanded in Rangpur

Rangpur, 31 March: Establishing coal-based power plant after collecting coal from the Khalashpir Coal-mine has been demanded in promoting trade, business and economic activities through establishing more industries in Rangpur.

Mass media and business leaders demanded it while speaking in a dialogue on local economic, trade and business development held at Rotary center in Rangpur today. With the support of European Union, mass communication oriented development organization CCD and EJ Net-Rangpur organized this dialogue.

 District Correspondent of the daily Sangbad Liaqat Ali Badal and District Correspondent of the daily Ajker Kagoj Jainal Abedin  presented two reports respectively on “Problems and Potential of Economic, Trade and Business Development in Rangpur” and “Role of Agriculture for the development in Rangpur: Problems and Potential” while Convenor of EJ Net-Rangpur Md Wadud Ali was in the chair. Chairman of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries Motafa Azad Chowdhry attended as a chief guest in the opening ceremony. District Commissioner Khandakar Atiar Rahman as Chief Guest in the closing ceremony handed over certificates to the two fellow journalists in the closing ceremony of the dialogue.  

Senior Faculty Member of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank A B Siddique moderated the dialogue. Member Secretary of EJ Net Rangpur Rafique Sarkar and Project Coordinator of CCD A H M Abdul Hai presented welcome address in the dialogue.

Among others, Deputy Director of  Department of Agriculture Extension Abdur Rahim, President of Rangpur Press Club S M Sadrul Alm Dulu, Assistant General Manager of Sonali Bank Sahana Masrur, District Livestock Officer Almgir Hossain,  Editor of the daily Akhira Masudur Rahman Milu, Editor of the daily Bizli Mozaffar Hossain, Chairman of Rangpur district reporters unity Sayed Abul Hasnat Bablu, Manager of NCC Bank Ali Ashraf Shaikh, Manager of Karmasangsthan Bank Md Akhtar Hossain Pradhan, Joint convener of Ej-net Rangpur Aftab Hossain and Merina Lavli, Senior Principal Officer of National Bank Md. Abdul Moid took part in the discussion. A large number of journalists, business leaders and different professionals of Rangpur actively took part in the dialogue.
